Berlin, November 2009 - The smart card, which began its triumphal progress over 30 years ago as a prepaid telephone card, has now evolved to become a smart object and, in many ways, has liberated itself from the old card format. Today, complex system solutions, the so-called smart secure solutions with advanced security requirements and multi-faceted applications architecture, are at the centre of ambitious projects.
In January, for the seventeenth time, OMNICARD will be providing a comprehensive overview of the worldwide activities of the smart card and smart objects sector. The conference is an authoritative annual platform for the regular exchange of knowledge and experience. Specialists and management representing suppliers meet up with decision makers from the fields of industry and politics, and from regulatory and standardisation authorities. And researchers, representatives of employers’ federations and consultants are equally keen to take advantage of all that the conference has to offer. In addition to round-the clock networking, the annual highlights include controversial panel discussions and the best of keynote speakers.
The venue for OMNCIARD 2010 is the Grand Hotel Esplanade, which, as in the past, will contribute enormously to the traditionally good atmosphere at this leading event of its kind in central Europe.
OMNICARD is particularly appreciated as a networking event: three days and especially the long evenings are a perfect opportunity to make new contacts and renew existing ones. Again and again OMNICARD is the place where the foundation stone for major projects and decisions is laid.
We are currently expecting Dr. Hans Bernhard Beus, Permanent Secretary at the Federal Ministry of the Interior, to open OMNICARD 2010 and to introduce the central topic, the electronic ID card. In the course of the conference, political, technical and commercial issues related to the eID will be discussed in four major forums and in additional workshops.
In a keynote entitled “Emotional boosting – the special art of customer seduction”, best-selling author, Dr. Hans-Georg Häusel, will deal with the latest insights in the field of neuroscience and speak about how they can be put to use in sales and marketing.
Other major themes include NFC and the Payment Services Directive (PSD). Prominent speakers have agreed to take part in the discussions. In addition, the future of the good old classic smart card will be discussed by leaders of the world’s four largest card manufacturers.
OMNICARD 2010 will also address topics such as RFID, the electronic passport worldwide, the electronic health card, ePayment, eGovernment and Security.
